Raf’s practice is a playful yet meticulous exploration of materiality—its composition, texture, and form, as well as the ways human hands and machines transform it. Drawn to the unexpected—reflection, refraction, and elemental reactions—Raf sources materials from overlooked and liminal spaces: city streets, industrial scrapyards, manufacturing offcuts, and the archives of artisans and tradespeople. Whether working with plastic or gold, each material is approached with reverence, its inherent qualities amplified through the fusion of cutting-edge technology and time-honoured craftsmanship. Raf applies these techniques in collaborations with global brands, urban redevelopment and large-scale infrastructure projects, and public realm artworks, embedding material narratives into spaces that shape everyday experience.
