Adidas Vac Chair Adidas’ sustainability strategy details their commitment to unlocking a circular future, most notably partnering with Parley for the Oceans to produce footwear made from Ocean Plastic and revealing the first fully recyclable running shoe in 2019. The Vac Chair collection responded to a brief set by adidas to find closed loop applications for their in-store waste. The chair is made from 2 days worth of in-store waste from their flagship London branch. The predominant material is poly bags, which are used in the supply chain to protect clothing during shipping and transport. In poly bag form, the material is light, transient, ephemeral and disposable, but the volume of material is highlighted when compacted into solid plastic objects, showing its durability and capacity for reuse.
