Public Installations Raf carries out public installations, site specific artwork and community engagement projects. For example, the Converse commissioned thermochromic wall installation in Bethnal Green responds to different weather conditions and body heat, changing throughout the day. When the sun is out or the paint is touched, the colours beneath the surface are revealed, making for an interactive and playful experience and turning an otherwise grey area into a colourful community space. This piece was a collaboration with Troels Flensted, a fellow Central Saint Martins graduate.
Professional Design Workshops Raf runs professional design and development workshops for creative teams, institutions and companies such as Facebook, OPDC and the Royal College of Art. Through these sessions, Raf facilitates multidisciplinary collaborations and equips participants with knowledge and skills in sustainable design, circular systems, creative thinking and hands on making.
Design Education Workshops Raf regularly works with young audiences and adults, running workshops and community engagement projects for universities, museums, galleries and schools, such as the Design Museum and the JP Morgan and Imperial College Partnership. These are centered around bringing people together to inspire and educate future designers and makers. Raf weaves elements of his own practice and approach into each workshop, for example deconstructing and reimagining obsolete products, making from natural materials and found objects, and responding to future scenarios.
