Rafael El Baz is a London born and based product and material designer. Raf received his Bachelors in Industrial Product Design at Central Saint Martins and completed his training at the Royal College of Art in 2019. Raf’s work seeks to tackle the mounting social and environmental problems of the 21st Century, interacting with audiences to create new narratives and drive change. He often turns to natural structures and processes for inspiration, researching and developing new ways to make sustainable materials and recycling, reusing and transforming materials otherwise discarded. Raf’s work reflects his fascination with localities, culture and history, hacking traditional craft with modern production processes to consider circularity in a changing world. Alongside his personal practice, Raf is a co-founder of GoodWaste, a sustainable design studio, and works as a design educator, running workshops and community engagement projects.
